The board has started not one, but two investigations into my office right before my election. The term for what they’re doing is “opposition research”. It’s suppose to be paid for by the campaign, but in this case, they’re using tax payer resources. I have found $44K worth of invoices spent on this and expect the total to exceed $100K.
For seven years, nobody had a single concern about our treasury. For seven years, the board renewed my investment authority. For seven year, Fitch has reaffirmed our AAA rating. Yet 2 months before my election, they found it necessary to spend a bunch of your money on “investigations”.
Worse than that is they are refusing to release the reports to the public. You paid for it, you have a right to see it. It was about me, I have a right to see it under labor code 1198.3. Denied. They’re not releasing it, I doubt they will ever release it because it will show that the whole thing was a taxpayer funded boondoggle.
